This fantastic deli run by Mark and Izzy is a complete gem in the thriving Harbour area. We discovered The Dinky Deli on a quest for the best coffee in town and we were not disappointed. Mark whipped up the most fantastic flat white for us and we were also delighted at all the delicious produce they have in stock.
Locally-Sourced Produce
Their philosophy with The Dinky Deli is to source everything from within a 25 mile radius of Ilfracombe or closer. They have a wide range of fresh and cupboard food and drinks to take home, and also freshly baked bread, freshly made sandwiches and other pastries and baked goods ready to stuff straight in your mouth.
Fresh Milk Machine
They also have a fresh milk machine that stocks organic, homogenised milk in reusable glass bottles. A bottle costs £2.50 and then you can refill it for £2 per litre. This milk is the freshest most creamy milk you have ever had – certainly a luxury food item to make your self-catering holiday in Ilfracombe that bit more special! It is worth every penny and because it is non-homogenised, you get the cream rising to the top like back in the olden days when we were kids!
Strong Delicious Coffee
Using fantastic fresh milk which makes the coffees so creamy. They do all the usuals: cappuccino, flat white, americano, espresso, plus a selection of teas. As well as providing non-dairy milks for anyone vegan or intolerant to dairy.
Fresh Pastries and Snacks
The Dinky Deli bakes bread and pastries like croissants to die for on the premises daily, and also take delivery of some delicious cakes and savoury tarts. We had a cheese and mushroom tart that blew our minds. The pastry was perfect: soft and crispy all at the same time, and the filling had so much flavour.
Fridge Stocked With Goodies
As well as the fresh milk, The Dinky Deli has a big fridge with other local fresh produce like cheese, butter, smoked fish (we had the most delicious smoked mackerel), dried meats, pate, juices and more.
Drinks
They had a wonderful selection of non-alcoholic drinks, like locally-made Luscombe drinks, as well as some yummy local wines, cider, perry and beer. They also had cans in the fridge to just pick up and take away.
Chutneys, Preserves and More
The back room of the shop has a fab selection of chutneys, pickles, jams and preserves, biscuits and all sorts of dry or packaged goods.
Basically go there and spend all your money you won’t regret it!
